Carousel Dinner
Theater
The Carousel Dinner Theater in Akron Ohio
tells patrons to “expect the unexpected”.
With people busier than ever in the past, recreation time is
more important than it's ever been. As a result they select
dinner theater for entertainment.
The Carousel calls itself the largest professional dinner
theater in the country, but many dinner theaters seem to make
that claim. Whether that boast is true or not, Carousel is
amongst the top. Carousel employs union actors, technicians and
musicians. It's not just a matter of supporting unions. Using
union talent helps to ensure a high quality show.
Carousel transferred to its present location in 1988 after
15 years in business in a converted supermarket. People can go
there for the traditional dinner and a show, or see the show
while skipping the meal . Recently more theater professionals
from New York have been hired. As a result show quality has
improved.
The phenomenon of “Wicked” has been a big one in the theater
world . This is the back story of the witches from the Wizard
of Oz. In 2008 Carousel presents the Wizard of Oz, the story
that began it all. This production boasts a colorful
Proscenium, which is the frame around the stage that rotates
the different sets into place. This and other details of the
play are discussed on Carousel's Wizard of Oz blog at
http://carouseldinnertheatre.blogspot.com .
Blogs are fairly new for plays.
The Carousel has hosted a lot of Broadway plays over time.
”The Odd Couple” brought down the house in 2008. It has hosted
many others including Footloose and Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers. It's almost a Broadway off Broadway, where you can
enjoy a meal while watching a top quality play. In 2009 the
theater hosts the very popular High School Musical.
Enjoy New York without the traffic at the Carousel Dinner
Theater. It's a lot of fun.
